contacts needed to break into the Australian market. If you want to crack
this market, get this directory! They also hold conferences and seminars
and run a website with tons of info about the Australian music business.

bible" for international contacts for the music industry. It covers
all of Great Britain and has sections on Europe, South America, South
Africa, Australia, and Japan. Listings include: record companies, music

HELPFUL SITES
http://www.timeanddate.com has the time and date
for anywhere in the world. Before you call anywhere international, check
this site to find out what time it is in that country. You don't want
to piss someone off by waking them up, or waste a call because the office
is closed for the night. It enables you to know when to call people in
different countries during their business hours.
There are hundreds of festivals in Europe. Many of them pay for artists
to perform and are open to artists from other countries. Here are some

INTERNATIONAL MUSIC CONFERENCES
MIDEM is the largest international conference. It's
held every January in Cannes, France. This is where all the top international
music biz people flock to. It's expensive to attend but can be worth
the trip if you have music that's very marketable for international markets
and use savvy in connecting with people who can facilitate that.

Popkomm takes place in Berlin. It offers opportunities
to showcase in a variety of venues. It's less formal and cheaper than
MIDEM and also offers many opportunities to meet the international music

The British Academy of Composers is a trade association
for songwriters in the UK. They help protect a copyrights and offer benefits
and services to all songwriters.
